While Keeps treatments, finasteride and minoxidil, are generally considered safe, all drugs have the risk of side effects.

A common concern with finasteride is possible sexual side effects, like the loss of libido or erectile dysfunction. During clinical trials, only 3.8% of users experienced some form of these side effects. In many of those cases, the side effects were experienced in the beginning of the treatment and resolved themselves over time, both with and without continuing to use the drug.
